Rebecca Moore

My qualifications include that I earned a Masters Degree in Community Counseling (completed in 1998) which taught  me skills in the psychotherapy arena which I have continued to develop over the years. I later went back to school and added nursing to my existing majors allowing me to become a psychiatric RN where I worked as an Access RN and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner as well as on a psychiatric inpatient unit. I ultimately finished my Master of Science in Nursing in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program in 2012.  Since then I have worked in a county system, private clinic, and a hospital/clinic setting.  These experiences have helped me understand the systems in place to support patients, both where they excel and where they may fall short. In particular in rural MN we all know that it is extremely challenging to find resources, then to get insurance plans to cover them is another issue entirely.  With my years of experience in mental health care I believe I have developed skills to work toward the advantage of patients in developing these resources.

Aside from my career life, I am the mother of an adult daughter and son with the recent addition of a son-in-law!  My children have both moved into their own life settings and I am so proud of them both.  My husband and I have been married for 26 years and know firsthand that marriage is a commitment with good times and harder times, but we have weathered it all so far.  Having a family in this stage of development helps me understand some of the issues that arise as families mature over time which is helpful in understanding what my patients may be experiencing.  I have certainly learned there are no perfect parents and no perfect spouses!  We have one cat who is a bit of a bully, but we found him as a tiny kitten and were able to keep him alive so he seems to be part of the family now.   My dream hobbies include cake decorating, quilting, and kayaking.  I love the water and my most peaceful places include floating in a lake or sitting on a dock at sunset.
